Conclusion

As a conclusion, I can say that by understanding this three sub topic will help me to understand more about human resource information system. This entire three are important topic in human resource management. Now I am understand that the human resource information system are comprise of stand-alone software for any of the primary areas of use for information systems  in HR management such as employee record management, compensation and benefits, recruitment and retention, training and development, safety and health and so on.
    From the topic Web Based Compensation Planning, now I know that this system can help the organization to hire the right people, retain performers, and motivate all employees to perform at the higher level. This is same goes to Web Based OSH, this web system will motivate the employee to give full commitment because they feel secure in the workplace. And lastly in the Web Based Learning and Development, the organization will be able to manage the development of their employee. I hope that in the future I will get to apply what I have learned in this subject.

Reflection on Web Based Compensation Planning

            As I know, the compensation is the most complex topics in human resource management. This is because some organization faces a lot of difficulties and complexities when creating and administering the compensation systems. In order to help with that, now they are turning to use the technology to make it easy. As we know, the advanced of the technology are giving a lot of benefits to us. For example, all processes in compensation such as designed, communication and management of payment are moving toward Web application. This is because the employee can easily get information without having a problem.
            Based on the presentation in the class that has been presented by my friends, what I can understand is there are two element in the web based compensation which is the fixed compensation and the variable compensation. The fixed compensation includes based pay, merit pay, promotion adjustment, specific knowledge, skill and abilities, recognition, or retention awards. This based pay or fixed pay is built around two processes which are job evaluation and market benchmarking. On the other hand, the variable compensation includes the element of bonuses, commission, individual and group incentives plan and productivity gain sharing programs.
            The application that included in the web based compensation is the benefit management, payroll, the job evaluation, salary survey, incentive plan, compensation consultant, and salary planning. From my understanding, this application will help the manager or the organization to pay for the top performer. Beside that, this web application will increase the effectiveness of accurate information provided for the employee. In addition, it also enables planning and budgeting of employee salary and may increase the payment of their wages.
            From the information that I get from Dr Roya, this system can give some implication to the organization which is E-Compensation and E-Benefits seem to be the strategic integration of HRM with the (revised) company strategy, structure and culture. Beside that, the utilization of Online Compensation and Benefits Subsystems will assume an active role for line management and employees in implementing the strategies, policies, and practices.
            At the end of the class, as always Dr Roya will gave us some activities. For each group, we need to answer the case study in the textbook. This case study is about how the Grandview global financial service manages their compensation system of their employee. They need to overcome the problem and come with the solution to implement the web based system. From this topic, I become more understand about the role and function of human resource information system in supporting this compensation and benefits process.

Reflection On Web Based OSH

     In the class with Dr Roya, my group needs to present about the web based occupational safety and health system. As we know, occupational safety and health is important for the worker in the workplace. If we are a worker, of course we want a safe environment and need to be protected when performing our job right? So, the web based OSH is very useful and can give a lot of benefit to the organization who implemented the system. Beside that, safety and health at the workplace also important aspect to concentrate on in order to reduce the operational cost, medical claims by employee and reduce the injuries or incident that might happen in the workplace.
    Organizations with effective Web Based OSH earn positive returns and benefits on their health and safety investment by operational cost savings through this web based system. Besides that it also help to reducing work-related accidents and ill health and the costs associated with them. Even though it contributes a lot benefit to the organization, this web based system also can give the bad implication to the organization which has implemented the system such as the technical problem that may occur.
   For me, by understanding the concept of the Web Based OSH will help us to understand the application of Occupational Safety and Health system in Malaysia and legislation that needs to follow by industry. The rules and legislation are always protecting the worker safety and ensuring healthy workplaces. In addition, many of the organizations are governmental bodies, serving to promote occupational safety and health at work such as the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission in Australia, and the Occupational Safety and Health administration in the United States.
    At the end of the class, Dr Roya had told us to conduct class activity for the other friends. Our group chooses to make them to write an essay in two paragraphs about the role and function of the web based occupational safety and health system. This activity is very interesting because it can help us to remember what we have learned from the presentation. From that activity, I have realize that it is very important for us to concentrated on the lecture or presentation at in front because we cannot understand if we just looking like that. So it is also the learning for me to improve my knowledge. Beside that, now I am understand that the human resource information system are comprise of stand-alone software for any of the primary areas of use for information systems  in HR management such as employee record management, compensation and benefits, recruitment and retention, safety and health and so on.

 

 

Reflection On Web Based Learning & Development


After I had learn this topic, what I can understand from this topic is the learning and development center is the stage for organization to ensure long term competitiveness, excellence, quality, flexibility and adaptability.
            Learning management system aims to deliver four main features which are the delivery training content, tracking of trainee performance, the management of online learning (course and trainee) and lastly is the provision of tools for student collaboration. In order to run the system systematically, employees and the management log in to the system by using their own identification which is employee log in and administrator log in. In the employee log in, the element that included in this is basic information, catalogue and also my profile. Meanwhile, in the administer log in, there are also three element which is the employee data management, the training course management, and lastly is the training need assessment.
            Nowadays, we have been exposed by the advancement of the technology in education. We also know about the e-learning. E-learning is referring to any learning facilitated using electronic. The technologies apply in E-learning are Computer-aided assessments, Animations, Simulations games and Electronic performance support system (EPSSs). The EPSS is a wizards, knowledge bases, help, advice functions, and assistants. Beside that, there is also digital collaboration. This kind of technology is an intranet based collaborative technology, such as groupware (software used in meeting) which will provides company forum for tracking, sharing and organizing the information. The digital collaboration denotes networking and communication via the internet. It can be divided into two which are synchronous (live communication) and asynchronous (using internet which learners can learn at own convenience, whereas communication is delayed)
            What I can conclude from this topic is there are a lot of benefit for the organization if they are implemented the web based learning and development system. This system will help the organization to reduce the cost and time consuming. Beside that, it also can help the organization to facilitate the management of their organization. In addition, this web application provides the variety instructional environment. On the other hand, even it can bring a lot of benefit but there is also some disadvantage when using this system. If there are some technical problems it will difficult to access. The systems will slowdown or higher downtimes. So, the organizations need to upgrade the computer system from time to time. At the end of this class, I hope that in the future, I will be given a chance to apply what I had learned from this class.

Assalamualaikum W.B.T.
            Alhamdulillah I have been given a chance to continue my second webfolio. Compare to the first week, now I am able to understand what Human Resource Information System is all about. Thanks to Dr Roya that help and guide me to improve my knowledge and give a lot of information about this subject.
            For this second webfolio, we have been given three topic to write it down which is Web Based Learning and Development, Web Based Occupational Safety and Health and lastly is Web Based Compensation Planning. This three web based system will help the organization in a lot of aspect. It is very important to implement in the organization to help increase the productivity and efficiencies. For example, the web based occupational safety and health will reduce the incident and medical claims by employees. So, the organization will save the cost for that and will invest for increasing the productivity. That is why this entire three are important topic in human resource management.
            And last but not least I really hope that I will be able to remember what I have learn in this subject and I hope that I can do well in my final exam.

Conclusion



Alhamdulillah I have completed the reflection that have been assigned by Dr Nur Naha and Dr Roya. From this subject, I have learned so many things with Dr Roya. Before attend to this class, I really know nothing about Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and I also think that this subject is really difficult. But after I have attends to this class, I have gained a lot of knowledge about this information system and realize that in this era of advanced technology, I must be knowledgeable in many system.

   The Human Resource Information System is very important thing because an effective HRIS provides information on just about anything the company needs to track and analyze about employees, former employees, and applicants. Your company will need to select a Human Resources Information System and customize it to meet your needs. 

    I had to summarize the three topics in this subject and I chose to write down the reflection about Information System on Competitive Advantage, HR Recruiting and Staffing, and last but not least is Human Resource System and System Architecture. I can conclude that this three topic is really important and can help the organization to save cost and less time consuming.

Reflection on Human Resource System and System Architecture


After I have learnt the system architecture that have been taught by Dr Roya, I am able to understand that there are three types of technological HRIS system architecture which are standalone systems, data warehouse model and single integrated system model. Human Resource Information System also can be known as Human Resource Management. It is a software or online solution for the data entry, data tracking, and data information needs of the Human Resources, payroll, management, and accounting functions within a business.

             The system Architecture is the systems correlated to multinational model, international model and global model. Standalone system is the most basic model which each operating units runs its own independent system with no worldwide standards in place and no integration. Standalone System does not have systems at all. Their consolidated reporting perhaps done through a global data warehouse, is often quite basic. Standalone systems have difficulties to do data analysis and even the most basic headcount reporting becomes laborious. This types of system are usually used by multinational company.

            According to wikipedia, a data warehouse (DW or DWH) is a database used for reporting and data analysis. It is also stated that the data stored in the warehouse are uploaded from the operational systems such as marketing, sales and so on. The data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations before they are used in the data warehouse for reporting. This data warehouse can help organization to share the application and information all over the world. It also will be same throughout all organization unit either it is local or international. All the units run the same software. This type of system will be suited to the international organization. Beside that, it is also beneficial to the organization because it consuming less cost and time.
           
          The third system architecture is single integrated system model which is the most advanced model. This system generally located at the corporate headquarters (HQ) and using the concept of centralization. This means that this system force organization to use a standardized set of software worldwide. There is no need for a separate reporting database, although some organizations do it in order to separate transaction processing from analytical reporting.  The single integrated system uses the same screens worldwide, with appropriate changes for different languages in different countries. This system usually used by global and transnational organization. At the end of class I am very satisfied with the knowledge that I have gain today.

Reflection on Information System on Competitive Advantage

Before this, I really do not understand what is the competitive advantages in industries but after I have learnt that topic that from Dr Roya I am able to understand more about this topic. From what I have learnt in the class, competitive advantage is what distinguishes you from the competition in the minds of your customers. Whether you are an employee, a business or a country, you need to have a clear competitive advantage and communicate it to your customers
            Besides that, I also learnt about the competitive forces. In order to succeed, a business must develop strategies to counter the forces. Investorwords define the competitive force as a forces that shape industries and economic sector, which can be used to determine the competitive strength or weakness of a company. There are five competitive forces which is the rivalry of competitors within its industry, the new entrants into an industry and its markets, the substitute products that may capture market share, the bargaining power of customers and lastly the bargaining power of suppliers (as shown in the below figure).  The more competitive forces are being faced by an organization, the higher competitive pressure it feels.
           


Other than that, I also have been taught about the using competitive strategies. These strategies are not mutually exclusive. There are five strategies which is cost leadership, differentiation strategies, growth strategies, alliance strategies and innovation strategies. A given activity could fall into one or more categories of competitive strategy. For the cost leadership strategy a firm achieves cost leadership in its industry by thrifty buying practices, efficient business processes, forcing up the prices paid by competitors, and helping customers or suppliers reduce their costs. The next is innovation strategy which means that company need to produce new product or services that different and unique from other company. This is because innovation implies something so new and different that it changes the nature of the industry. The third is Differentiation strategy. Come up with new ideas which promoted the different products, services or product features and can charge higher prices and sell more products. The fourth is alliance strategy. Work with business partners in partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, or virtual companies. And the last but not least is the growth strategy. The growth strategy means the companies need to expand company’s capacity to produce diversity new product and services. At the end of the class I am satisfied with the information that has been given to me by Dr Roya.

Reflection on HR Recruiting and Staffing



From what I have learnt in this topic, the recruiting and staffing process is the important things to organization in order to increase the productivity of the company. The business dictionary stated that the recruitment is a process of identifying and hiring the best-qualified candidate (from within or outside of an organization) for a job vacancy, in a most timely and cost effective manner. In the other hand, the staffing is a process to select and train the new employee.

            Through the advancement of technology, people can easily find the job vacancies. The organization can easily advertise the job vacancies to the user via internet and the candidate can easily submit their resume or CV on that website. The data obtained will help organization to get qualified workers to fill the vacancies. The organization can apply the human resource information system to selection and assessment such as online testing, web based selection system and others. This online collection will be utilized by organizations to obtain information on the applicant to facilitate the process of selection.

             In order to remain competitive, company need to find initiative to attract the people and hire more quality and effective workforce. E-recruitment is the process of personnel recruitment using electronic resources, in particular the internet. E-recruitment is beneficial in terms of cost and time effectiveness. Organization could save the cost by advertising the job opening via company’s website instead of publishing advertisement on newspaper. But on the other hand, E-recruitment using technological approaches and if any problems happen on the system will cause the information loss.

            There a lot of component in this system such as personal information candidate, administration, job information etc. on this system, the candidate can know about job information such as the hiring process, deployment and retention. The system can give a lot of advantage but also have the disadvantage that may occur such as the challenge to update the information, lack of personal interaction, too many candidate and so on.

            For the web-based computerized system, there are a lot of function such as to testing the access and security, to testing the inventory and administrative privileges, give options for scoring, for accessing results and for applying test policies. This system give a lot of implication to the management such as provides a flexible, automated and interactive interface between the online application system, the recruitment department of the company and the job seeker.

            At the end of this class, I felt so happy and satisfied that had learnt so many new terms today. Besides that, I gained more knowledge and understanding of information system and E-recruitment system.

Introduction About Me

Assalamualaikum W.B.T and hello everyone :)

First of all..i will introduce myself. My name is Nur Faezatul Husna Binti Abdul Khoni. I am from Kuala Nerang, Kedah. I am 3rd year students in University of Technology Malaysia. In UTM, im taking a bachelors degree of Science in Human Resource Development. Why im taking this course? this is because i think the human resource are interesting and i like to learn how to manage people and plan for the people's development.And i really hope that i can be a human resource manager one day..Aminn..:)



Actually,we were assigned to do a personal webfolio by DR Nur Naha. We have to write down the reflections of the topic given which has been taught by DR Roya. This is first time lecturer asks us to do reflection in this way but it is very interesting. so..i really hope that i can improve my knowledge in this subject and get a good result at the end of this semester.
